The decision was taken at the 25\u1d49 session of the organization&#8217;s interministerial meeting, held yesterday in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;Our country&#8217;s membership of this organization, which brings together 19 countries representing 72% of the world&#8217;s total gas reserves, confirms the significant potential and promising prospects it has in the gas sector,&#8221; said a press release issued by the Mauritanian Ministry of Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The country is preparing to produce gas from the Grand-Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) field, shared with Senegal, in the first quarter of next year, according to the ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The GECF, made up of 19 countries, collectively holds over 72% of the world&#8217;s gas reserves and accounts for 42% of global gas production.
