Early on Tuesday morning, the Mauritanian President announced the names of his new government, through the Secretary-General of the Presidency, after days of anticipation in the Mauritanian street.
The government brought several surprises, the most prominent of which was the separation of the energy and petroleum sectors from minerals. After there was a ministry of petroleum, minerals and energy, there are now two ministries, one for petroleum and energy, and the other for minerals and industry.
This amendment comes days after the unveiling of the draft Local Content Law and the Green Hydrogen Law, which were ratified by the previous Mauritanian government.
It should be noted that the former Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Nani Ould Achrouka, was appointed Director of the Cabinet of President Ould Ghazouani, while Mohamed Ould Khaled was appointed Minister of Energy and Oil, and Thiam Tijani Minister of Mines and Industry.
