World Bank Group reaffirmed its readiness to support the energy sector transition in Mauritania hailing the country unique position as a future producer and exporter of clean energy
The World Bank Group President, Mr. David Malpass, met, yesterday in Washington DC, with Mauritania President, Mr. Mohamed Cheikh El Ghazouani, to discuss the different domains of cooperation set between the two parties and the diverse economical issues of common interests.
During this meeting, the two parties “spoke about the energy sector and Mauritania’s unique position as a future producer and exporter of clean energy”, said a statement published by the International institution.
This statement underlined that: “in this context, President Malpass reaffirmed the WBG’s readiness to support the energy sector transition and improved access to electricity, including through mini-grids and scaling solar initiatives”.
It is worth mentioning that the cooperation between the two parties in the field of energy includes several ongoing projects, regarding the energy transition, the development of gas fields and the exploitation of renewable resources.
