Addax Energy wins two-year contract to supply hydrocarbons to Mauritania
Swiss company Addax Energy today won a two-year contract to supply liquid hydrocarbons to Mauritania. The fuel supply agreement also includes the construction of a 100,000 cubic meter fuel depot in Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital.
Annual fuel consumption in Mauritania is around 1,130,000 tonnes, including gasoline, kerosene, diesel and fuel oil.
Addax Energy has been the exclusive fuel supplier in Mauritania for the past few years, despite recent disagreements that have disrupted its relationship with Mauritania’s major hydrocarbon consumers.
Recently, the National Hydrocarbons Committee (CNHY) pointed out that the Mauritanian market was not sufficiently attractive to major suppliers due to a crucial lack of storage capacity.
