Mauritania: Shell awards contract to Noble Corp to drill exploration well
Energy company Shell has awarded a contract to offshore drilling company Noble to drill a deepwater exploration well off Mauritania. The completion of this exploration well in Shell’s acreage is expected before the end of this year.
Shell was awarded two exploration-production contracts (EPCs) in 2018 for Blocks C10 and C19, where it has conducted exploration campaigns. In 2023, Shell was awarded a new exploration licence for Block C2, after abandoning Block C19.
In addition, Shell sold 40% of Block C10 to QatarEnergy, while Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH) holds a 10% interest in the same block.
