Senegal: Launch of an international tender for the construction of a gas pipeline linking the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field to the Senegalese mainland
The government-owned Senegal Gas Network (RGS SA) has announced the launch of an international tender for the construction of pipeline project planned mainly for transportation of natural gas from the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field, straddling the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal, to the city of Saint-Louis.
According to a statement published by the company, the gas pipeline will make it possible to transport Senegal’s share of the field’s production to the “Gandon” power station in the city of Saint-Louis, wherefrom it will be exploited in the production of electricity.
During the first phase of this project led by British oil and gas giant BP, 70 million cubic feet of its natural gas are set to be split evenly, per day, between Senegal and Mauritania.
It is worth mentioning that first production from this field is still due to start by the end of 2023, with a production capacity of 25 million cubic feet per year.
