Senegal: Woodside announces the completion of the construction phase of the FPSO for the Sangomar oil field

Australian oil and gas company, Woodside Energy, announced the completion of the construction phase of the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility designed to allow the development of the Sangomar oil field offshore Senegal.
The company explained that this floating installation, named after Senegal’s first president, Leopold Sédar Senghor, is currently being relocated to Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd.’s Tuas Shipyard in Singapore, where the technical teams will complete topsides integration and support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure that the platform is operational before it is put into service.
It is worth mentioning that the operations of the phase 1 is currently around 70% complete, according to the latest updates published by the company. First oil from the project is expected at the end of 2023, with an estimated production capacity of 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Woodside is the operator in charge of the Sangomar field, possessing an 82% participating interest, while the State-owned company (Petrosen) holds the remaining 18% of the project.
